Boats & Swimming at the Cabin

Today we got another late start. Too much staying up late! I made American pancakes this morning but they don't have syrup here so we improvised and had jam and whipped cream instead. I had to whip it myself and I used vanilla sugar (powdered sugar flavored with vanilla) to sweeten the cream. Linnea opted for sprinkles instead of jam. Davin just had toast. It was so delicious!

All the kids got in the water at some point. Farmor was in charge of the raft.

Our plan today was to go to the cabin if the weather was nice. It was! I haven't talked about the weather in a few days but it has been really nice so it is good that summer has finally come to Sweden. On the 4th of July BBQ the temp was about 20C or 68F and the sun was shining. A great day for a BBQ! Saturday was also very nice but we spent most of it in the car or inside at Farfar's house. The official weather says it was 26C or 79F in Hudiksvall so it was quite warm especially in the sun.

Today it was 24C or 75F and it started out a little cloudy so I wasn't sure it was going to be any rain. The cabin is not as much fun if it rains. We decided to head over after lunch and hope for the best. It was actually great as the clouds cleared up and it was sunny the rest of the afternoon and evening. The kids had a great time playing and swimming in the water. It was so cold but they didn't mind until it was time to eat dinner. I was amazed at how they stand there with goosebumps and their teeth chattering but there were NOT cold! Nope. Haha.

They also went out in a little raft that they set up. Someone had to hold the rope so they didn't float away. The kids just took turns in the raft and when they reached the end of the rope, someone would pull them back. Endless fun!
