Moläta at Stenegård

The plan for today was to head to Stenegård as there was a special event called Moläta. Stenegård is where we went for our midsummer celebration but this time the weather was much, much better. The official temp says 25C or 77F but it seemed closer to 30C or 86F because that is what the car said. We were also sitting out in the sun most of the time so perhaps that is why it felt so darn warm.

Anyway, this event is a food festival where they make all different dishes for people to taste. The theme is to feature food from the good old days of Järvsö. The cost was fairly cheap. Entry into the festival was 20 SEK or about $3 per adult. It also cost 20 SEK to park as well so we spent about $9 total to get in. Then you bought food tickets which you redeemed for your tastings. They recommended about 3-4 per person for a full meal. These tickets cost 30 SEK or about $4 each and we bought 8 tickets all together which was $35 for the four of us to eat.
Enjoying our "tastes" of old style Swedish food.
Davin couldn't really eat anything there so he had a PB&J sandwich and Linnea had pancakes and ice cream. I had three items that were really tasty ... a cold salmon and potato salad ... a vegetable crepe with some cheese & mashed potato inside ... a cold sandwich with a sweet chutney and ham (it was some sort of meat) with a small salad. Fredrik also had three items ... elk kabab with lingonberry chutney ... braised steak with coleslaw ... ostkaka which literally translated means "cheesecake" but it is NOTHING like the American version!

Then we walked around a bit and explored the old shops and the kids Stenegård as well. It is a place that Linnea really loved as it had little houses where you could do different things like a school, sewing, workshop and more. Davin was unimpressed with the place. We sat in the shade while Linnea, Vidar & Vilda played. Ebbe listened to the live music with his dad. Anna had arrived late as she had gone to get some medicine.
Linnea with her pancakes. She didn't like them as she likes them with sugar to make them taste better.
We sat right in front of the band so Patrik is enjoying that.
I thought their fancy equipment to hold up the speakers was quite clever. We are definitely in the country!

Vilda posing in a really big chair that is decorated in a typical style for this area.
We took a walk through a nice garden to get to the kids area.
Linnea found a birdcage to play with.
Linnea had fun in the school house too.
Cattis & Erik sitting in the sun while the kids play.
Linnea takes a turn in the big chair.
All the cousins sitting in the chair..
