Before Whale Watching

I got behind again on my blog posts. I am recalling this a week after we went on this tour. Hopefully, my memory is still good! I had to split up this day into two blog posts. So many photos!

Today we woke up at a decent time but since I slept a little after we got back from the Blue Lagoon yesterday, I went to bed very late. I was the last one to wake up but we were all out of the apartment by 10am. We had just enough time to walk down the main shopping street (Laugavegur) and do a little tourist window shopping while we tried to find a place to eat lunch. We settled on a little cafe that seemed to be busy and the menu looked attractive enough for all of us. I had a yummy green salad with freshly cooked chicken breast, the kids shared an order of fish and chips while Fredrik had a burger. It was pretty good and we were all pleased with the meals here.

TOP: We are walking down Lanugavegur and took a photo of a road where we could see the water. BOTTOM LEFT: Just strolling down Laungavegur. BOTTOM RIGHT: A typical tourist shop that we only did some window shopping.
Icelandic stores have funny statues in front of them. Also, we had to take a photo of the church but we never made it there to visit. Next time!
TOP: I am not sure what the building is or the statue but it was the end of the road for us before we turned around and grabbed lunch. You can see the concert hall (Harpa) in the background to the left. BOTTOM LEFT: Davin is on the fence looking at the unidentified building and statue. BOTTOM RIGHT: This was actually closer to the beginning of our stroll down Laungavegur as parts of it didn't allow cars.
We ate lunch at Kaffi Solon

Soon it was time to head back to our pickup spot which is by our apartment and had a short bus ride to the harbor. We probably could have walked but since we didn't know where exactly the boat was in the harbor, we just decided to keep our bus ride. It was a short walk and the weather was really nice out but chilly. The temps were around 10C or 50F so it was quite cold for summer. It is typical Iceland summer weather but it was much colder than we are used to. It was quite the change from the record breaking Seattle temps of 94F or 34C!

Here is the concert hall Harpa again. The top photo is from our stopping point on Lanugavegur and the bottom one is from our boat. It is a pretty building.
