Hudiksvall Cabin

Today was a really beautiful day here in Sweden. The sky was clear blue and the temperature was about 22 C or 72 F but it felt warmer. This is why I love Sweden in the summer! There was a small breeze as well but it was the perfect temperature especially if you are sitting in the sun.

We decided to head over to Irene's friend's cabin which is close to where we are staying. It was about a 30 minute drive to a small bay where Elisabet's cabin is on. It is a very typical Swedish cabin with the red and white paint and the very rustic atmosphere. There is running water and electricity but no toilet. Just an outhouse a short walk away. Needless to say I only went to the bathroom once myself and accompanied Davin once but stood outside while he went. The smell was not the most pleasant! He didn't seem to mind though!

Most of the afternoon was spent over there and the kids played in the water most of that time. I was surprised they did because the water wasn't all that warm. The temperature said 17 C or about 63 F which was pretty cold to me! They came in briefly for some "fika" or an afternoon snack. They liked the strawberry/kiwi "saft" (concentrated juice) and the cookies and cake. We brought a sandwich for Davin but he was still able to have some crackers and a few cookies too. Linnea liked the cake a lot but didn't eat much. The kids were in a hurry to go back out in the water to play. Uncle Per also came out to visit with us so it was nice to see him too.

After enjoying the sun and water, we came back home and Farfar grilled some pork chops and Irene made a salad to go with it. Yum! The kids didn't like it so much and I suspect it was too spicy? Davin loved the special Swedish beef patties (like meatballs but bigger) that Irene made yesterday so that was exciting to find another food that he likes to eat. The kids went to bed right after bed as all the activity today wore them out. Maybe tomorrow we will head out to the pool or beach if it is nice again like today?
