A Day with Farfar

Farfar arrived around 3pm and the kids were happy to see him. First they played a Swedish game called "Trap" that Fredrik bought yesterday at Ahlens. He bought several basic games for the house to just have around. It is like putting a deck of cards, Monopoly and a puzzle at your vacation home in the USA. "Trap" seems like a pretty simple game where a bar holds several different size pegs. The goal is to get the most pegs out of the board. If the bar moves when you take out a peg, then you lose that peg.
The kids playing "Trap" with Farfar and Farfar won.

Next up ... they shot BB guns with Farfar. They filled up some Coke cans with water and had fun shooting at them. I was busy cleaning the house so I didn't watch what they did.

After the BB guns, it was time to shoot with the bow and arrows. Farfar brought his bow which is pretty powerful. It was fun watching them all take turns and then seeing Farfar's arrows just go right through our cardboard targets and disappear into the grass.

Fredrik takes a shot with his dad's bow as well but I didn't get a photo of that.
Next was another Swedish game called "Kubb" which according to Wikipedia has been also dubbed "Viking Chess". For the kids, they set it up very simple and just tossed the sticks at the other pieces. They didn't play to win and just took turns trying to knock something down.

Then it was time to go inside for a bit and Davin really wanted to play chess with another new item that Fredrik bought yesterday. Farfar hasn't played in a long time and didn't think he was very good but he ended up winning in the end. It just took them a long time to play!
The boys deep in thought.
Linnea played with the "Kubb" pieces by making a sort of castle and then a musical instrument which she played while singing "Eye of the Tiger".

Finally, it was time for Farfar to go home but not before the kids convinced him to play frisbee with them. The fun never ends here!
